Bridgerton, a Quickie Review

It's been a few weeks since I watched this hump-fest with my mom. I think we can all agree that sex scenes are the longest when you're watching them with your parents. It's as if they just keep going. For hours. With extra nudity. And then more nudity, and more humping, and did they have to include oral, I mean really??  Honestly, I don't have much to say about Bridgerton beyond this. You know what it is. Netflix will let you know in case no one in your life already has, or if the internet has failed you. It's good, better than it has any right to be, and I'm here for it. When season two comes out, I'm going to binge that shit in one sitting, and just pray for less thrusting. The only thing I truly want to gripe about is this: the big reveal at the end. It didn't work for me. At all. I felt a mixture of disappointment and incredulity, because it just didn't gel. Does anyone else feel the same way, or is it generally accepted amongst the crowd? Mayb

Host (2020)

My go-to for whenever I'm feeling worse than usual has never really changed: watching horror movies. Can't stop crying? Horror. Break-up? Horror. Wanting to die? Horror. Need to punch someone in the face but don't want to get arrested? Horror. It never fails me.  Clocking in at just over an hour, Host is an easy choice. As a fan of both shaky cam and pseudo docs, I couldn't say no to this. The premise is unoriginal: friends conducting a séance over the internet, and then watching as one after the other is terrorized on camera. That being said, and I've probably iterated this before, it doesn't have to be thoroughly original to work. I like that Host is using the current pandemic and Zoom craze as the centerpiece for their story. In fact, if you watch the actual attempted séance that the cast and crew did (which should play immediately after
