IF YOU ARE NOT CRYING AN ORCHESTRA OF TEARS BY THE END OF THIS, ARE YOU EVEN ALIVE?
I binge-watched Wandavision in one day, because that's how I do. Going into it, I wasn't sure what to expect, which is a fair way to go into most new shows, I think. Personally speaking, I'm neutral on the Marvel front. I enjoy a good super hero film, but it's not a genre that I've ever been obsessive about. They're popcorn flicks, and despite pulling some emotional punches, they will forever be kinda fluffy to me.
Wanda and Vision were never high on my radar. As characters, I liked them well enough, but if I'm being honest, I...forgot their storyline...? I mean, did most people who tuned into Wandavision the first time remember what the hell happened with them in the movies? I didn't google it, though. While I've been known to occasionally research whatever I'm watching while it's still going, I didn't feel the need with this one. Which would have been pointless anyway, because you can envision the ending pretty early on. I'm not inserting that as an insult, I think it was probably meant to be obvious. They always intended to make us cry, guys.
I like the gimmick: episodes filmed in the style of different decades/TV shows. It doesn't make sense until the end, but frankly, even if they hadn't plopped a convenient reason in there, I'd still have enjoyed it.
As for spoilers, I won't give anything away. Nothing irked me enough to truly rant about it. While it's not perfect, I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed Wandavision, and the ending gave me the sads, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
My Grade: B+
